Boozy Boba
Following a long day in Brighton it wasn't our greatest idea to leave for London at 7am but we wanted to get the most out of our day in London. The train ride is about an hour to get from Falmer station (the one outside of our university) to London. The first thing we decided to do when we got to London of course was to find some food to eat. We got to London earlier than expected and ended up struggling to find a place to go to that was open and had an ample amount of food for us Americans (just a side note European portions aren't the biggest nor the most filling). We ended up going to this small open cafe where the servers were super nice and accommodating. While we got our food there was a French couple who laughed really hard when we got our pancake stacks. We honestly thought they were making fun of us or something but later found out they just thought the food was cute and ended up ordering the same thing as us. From there we began just walking around the streets of the SoHo area and walking into various stores and shops. Of course I did a little damage in one of my favorite stores, Zara. We kept walking around with a new purpose in mind. Before I left for the trip I saw one of those insider video things on FB that said there was "boozy boba" and I told my coworker Diana about it before we left so we made it our mission while in London to seek out this alcoholic beverage. The closest one to us was located in a store called Topshop another popular European clothing store where few exist in California. This Topshop was huge though; it had like 5 stories and had spots for personal shoppers and cafes built into the store, kind of like a Nordstrom's or Macy's. It was also very confusing to navigate and we walked around in circles for at least 20 minutes until my friend found it. Spoiler alert after all our hard work locating this Bubbleology we found out that this location did not have the cocktail bubble teas, so we ventured to another location which was in the heart of SoHo. Bubbleology was a nice little boba shop and the drink that I got was a mango passionfruit boba with Malibu. It was pretty good and I recommend if you are ever in London to check it out, for those of you who don't like the taste of alcohol, like yours truly, you don't taste it at all! From here we ventured to a Whole Foods because I promised my friend Charmaine who loves coffee that while in London I would find a bottle of clear coffee and give it a try. Yes I went to Whole Foods in London and I have yet to taste the clear coffee, an updated review coming to you soon about that. When we walked out we heard a loud sound coming from where Piccadilly Circus is. We arrive to see a massive protest going through town. I wish I could tell you what it was about however I'm naive on the subject and all I know is a lot of people are unhappy with the politicians in power and something about Tories. After watching this protest for a bit we embarked on our next stop which was Buckingham palace. Buckingham palace is a beautiful place and we were accompanied by, besides the hundreds of other tourist surrounding us, a nice little marching band group playing some fun music. A quick stroll through a park and some of the city we arrived to see Big Ben and also the protest was still going on nearby so it was extremely crowded around the area. After enjoying our surroundings and of course getting a plethora of pictures we ended up crossing a bridge to end up by the London eye. By this time we had worked up an appetite and decided to go back into the heart of London to try a chain called Bill's. I got a nice meal of steak, the first time I've had beef since on the trip and it was so good. We did a little more walking around the city before calling it a quits and headed back to the train to go to Sussex after a long day. Grand total mileage of this trip 13.6 miles!
